Our goal was to share as many tips and tricks on using the Osmo, a handheld stabilized camera that shoots smooth video.
In a relatively short time, we attracted the attention of thousands of photo and video enthusiasts from around the globe. To keep our YouTube audience inspired, we went all out to review as many camera gear or accessories that would work with the Osmo.
This was our first insight into the opportunity that would become the goosepod.
To keep up with the intense nature of our video creating process, we constantly searched for quick and efficient ways to make the most of the gear needed to shoot our videos.
All our shoots involve mounting and setting up the multi-cameras, lights, microphones, audio recorders as well as the gear we’re actually reviewing. This often took ages… sometimes more time than the actual shoot itself, and usually spreading over a few days.
Releasing a video every week, meant it was only a few days before we started the whole process all over again and again and again...
Something had to change…
We took a really long hard look at the products available on the market today but felt that they all fell short in one way or another…We knew we wanted the most flexible, yet robust system to mount our gear easily and reliably. We wanted a material that would bend easily, maintain the shape, and sustain the weights of most camera gear.(300g – 1kg).
Armed with this requirement, we got in touch with a local tube manufacturer and after several weeks of tweaking our design and specifications, we started working through several prototypes to a point where we were ready to launch.
Enter Kickstarter...and the rest is history.
